[Chungjungone] Chinese Black Bean Paste (Chunjang) is a savoury, fermented black bean paste essential for creating authentic Korean-Chinese dishes like Jjajangmyeon. It offers a rich, deep flavour profile, serving as a convenient base for delicious meals.

How to Prepare

Heat 2 tablespoons of Chungjungone Grape Seed Oil in a frying pan. Once hot, add minced garlic and stir-fry for 1 minute. Add appropriately cut pork, potatoes, onions, cabbage, and zucchini, then stir-fry for an additional 4 minutes before setting aside.

In the same frying pan, add 2 tablespoons of Chungjungone Grape Seed Oil and 125g of Chungjungone Delicious Chinese Black Bean Paste. Stir-fry over low heat for 5 minutes.

Add the stir-fried vegetables and 2.5 cups of water to the fried black bean paste. Boil until the potatoes are cooked, then season with sugar to taste.

In a separate bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of cold water with starch powder until well combined. Add this mixture to the pan and boil over low heat for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Pour the prepared sauce over rice or noodles and enjoy.

Tips

For an authentic taste, frying the chunjang briefly in a little oil helps to develop its flavour.

Adjust the amount of paste and sugar to suit your desired richness and sweetness.
